The biggest draw of this instrument is the price to performance, the 1 and 10 draws are achievable even for beginners and there is no great struggle with getting a clear 2 draw. Very impressive. As far as the design goes this is very comfortable and would be suitable for live playing. So far it seems relatively hardy, I've had it around a week though so can't comment as to its long term life, but no problems at all yet!
I've been playing blues harmonica in bands for the last 20 years. I've played Lee Oskar, Seydel, Hohner, Suzuki, and Konsheng PowerDraw harps. When I discovered the Kongsheng Mars I immediately bought two more! I find them very good for note-bends on blues solos, and the round hole arrangement makes it easier for me to pick the right notes when I'm playing fast blues melody lines. The casing is quite solid too. I got a really good deal when I bought direct from Kongsheng so I'm looking at completing the whole collection. My only gripe is the key labelling should be more prominent. Also it would be nice to see a version with stainless-steel reeds and plates like the Session Steel.
KONGSHENG Mars Diatonic Plastic Comb Normal and Paddy Richter Tuning available
I am very happy with my new Mars. Good tone, good response, very nice design. It will not be my last Kongsheng harmonica!
However, I wish Kongsheng would also include the Mars with aluminum comb in the online store.
